Bulletproof Wall Armor: A Critical Component of Ballistic Security

Bulletproof wall armor panels are one of the most important elements of any comprehensive bullet-resistant security system. Often referred to as Kevlar wall panels, ballistic fiberglass panels, or bullet-resistant wall panels, these materials are designed to transform standard walls into protective barriers capable of resisting ballistic threats.

At Bulletproof Innovations, we incorporate bulletproof wall armor into the design of safe rooms, secure offices, government facilities, schools, corporate headquarters, and other high-security environments where enhanced ballistic protection is required. Wall armor can be installed behind drywall, wood paneling, decorative finishes, and other architectural surfaces, providing discreet protection without compromising aesthetics.

Our ballistic wall panels are available in full-size sheets or can be custom engineered and cut to size for efficient installation. Whether you need to reinforce a single room, create a secure executive office, or construct a fully protected safe room, our Kevlar panels and bulletproof fiberglass armor systems provide reliable protection while maintaining the appearance and functionality of the surrounding space.

Our goal is to provide effective bullet-resistant wall protection that enhances security without sacrificing the design, appearance, or functionality of your facility.

Common Applications for Bullet Resistant Wall Armor

Wall armor is one of the most common bullet resistant materials used in our industry. IT’s used for a variety of security applications, specifically to armor anything that is not transparent.

Below are some examples for the uses of bullet proof wall armor. We can help from start to finish, starting with design.

Armor Panels for Safe Room Security

Our bullet resistant wall armor is perfect for converting any room into a safe room. It’s much easier to field fabricate than steel, and weighs approximately half of what steel weighs. It also is designed to capture the bullet, providing a much safer environment than that of steel, in the event of a shooting.

Step One - Apply Bullet Resistant Panels to stud framed wall.

Installation of ballistic wall armor is similar to conventional drywall installation. To reduce installation time and labor costs, Bulletproof Innovations can provide panels pre-cut to project specifications. We also offer comprehensive design, consulting, and project management services, guiding clients from initial concept through final implementation of their safe room and security projects.

Step Two- Drywall and finish walls

The room has been finished with drywall and paint, seamlessly concealing the bullet-resistant wall armor while preserving the security and ballistic protection designed into the safe room.

Step Three - Add a door to the room and it’s done

Our safe room doors are designed to blend seamlessly with the architecture of the home while delivering advanced bullet-resistant and forced-entry protection. Lightweight, secure, and visually discreet, they serve as the final component that completes a fully integrated safe room solution.

Armor Panels for Commercial Security

Bullet-resistant wall armor, often referred to as Kevlar® or ballistic panels, are one of the most versatile and widely used security products in the industry. In addition to reinforcing walls like those shown above, it is commonly used to protect government facilities, banks, convenience stores, courthouses, military installations, schools, and countless other high-security environments. Its adaptability, effectiveness, and ability to be concealed behind standard architectural finishes make this type of wall armor the most widely implemented form of bullet-resistant protection available today.

Bullet Resistant Fiberglass Panels to protect customer service counters

When bullet-resistant glazing is installed at a reception, transaction, or customer service area, bullet-resistant wall armor is typically incorporated into the counter and surrounding walls to provide a consistent level of protection. As shown above, ballistic wall armor panels have been installed on the exterior of the counter, helping ensure the counter assembly provides protection comparable to the adjacent bullet-resistant glazing.

Our bulletproof wall panels can be finished by painting them, drywalling, veneering, or using plastic laminate, as shown above. This is the same counter wall shown to the left, after the panels were laminated for finish. Bulletproof wall armor panels are normally finished in any application.

Easy to Apply and Finish

Bullet-Resistant Composite Wall Armor

Bullet-resistant composite wall armor offers a lightweight, highly effective alternative to traditional steel ballistic protection. Weighing significantly less than comparable steel armor systems, composite wall armor is easier to handle, transport, and install, helping reduce installation time and labor costs.

The panels install in a manner similar to conventional drywall and can be easily integrated into new construction or retrofit projects. Once installed, the armor can be concealed behind a wide range of architectural finishes, allowing designers and building owners to maintain the desired appearance of the space without compromising security.

Common finish options include:

  • Drywall and paint

  • Wood veneer

  • Plastic laminate

  • Solid surface materials (Corian®)

  • Marble and granite

  • Decorative wall panels and other architectural finishes

This versatility makes composite wall armor an ideal solution for secure offices, schools, government facilities, healthcare environments, retail locations, safe rooms, and high-end residential applications where both security and aesthetics are important.

Bulletproof Panels installed to protect reception area

We have assisted numerous businesses in implementing bullet-resistant security solutions for reception, transaction, and customer service areas—a security enhancement that is becoming increasingly common.

The photo above shows UL 752 Level 3 bullet-resistant wall armor installed below a customer service transaction window and along the adjacent wall, providing continuous ballistic protection for employees behind the secure area.

Dry walled and painted

The photo to the left shows the wall after being finished with drywall and paint. The completed assembly provides UL 752 Level 3 bullet-resistant protection, a 1-hour fire rating per ASTM E119, and has been tested for forced-entry resistance in accordance with ASTM F1233.

The Above is a Sheriff department Service Desk

This customer service counter for a California Sheriff's Department demonstrates that effective ballistic protection extends beyond the glazing alone. By integrating bullet-resistant wall armor into the counter and surrounding wall assemblies, the level of protection can be significantly enhanced. Depending on the threat assessment and project requirements, these systems can be engineered to provide protection against high-powered rifle threats, including AK-47 rounds.
